Teacher Information

Teachers will have the option between trip duration of 1 to 5 days. Below is the standard set up for a one day trip. Teachers have complete ability to request different time schedules (within crew agreement) and changes within the standard schedule. Teachers also have the ability to choose their classes from available Common Tides curriculum based on their students needs.

 

Standard One-Day Schedule

8:00 AM — students arrive to boat with teacher
8:30 AM to 9:15 AM — boat motors over to snorkel site with kids and anchor / students meet with volunteers and learn fish species
9:30 AM to 11:00 AM — students and teacher participate in basic snorkel with instructors (trained life guards)
11:00 AM to 12:00 PM — student dry off and get ready for lunch
12:00 PM to 12:45 PM — students have lunch with crew and teachers
12:45 PM to 2:00 PM — students have lesson one (teachers choice from list of available curriculum)
2:00 PM to 3:15 PM — students have lesson two (teachers choice from list of available curriculum)
2:40 PM to 3:30 PM — crew motors boat back to dock
3:30 PM – students disembark

Marine Science Class Options:
Aquatic Environmental Impact; Fish Habitat and Biology; Invertebrate Identification and Biology; Reef Makeup and Coral Degradation; Oceanography; Marine Mammal Biology and Habitat; Plankton Identification and Importance, Seagrass and the Mangrove Impact; etc.

Sail Science Class Options:
Sail Theory Introduction; Advanced Sail Handling; Knot Work; Navigation; Astronomy; Mechanical Advantage; Meteorology; etc.

Water Class Options:
Basic Snorkel; Advanced Snorkel; and Scientific Snorkel.
